Marchesini Group Beauty and SEA Vision bring Artificial Intelligence to lipstick inspection in Asia

Marchesini Group Beauty and SEA Vision will participate from November 14th to 16th, 2023, in Cosmopack Asia, the leading B2B event for the cosmetic industry in the Asia-Pacific region. This year, after the 2022 edition held in Singapore, the event will return to the headquarters in Hong Kong.
At the Marchesini Group Beauty booth (Hall 3 - Stand 3-D10a, AsiaWorld-Expo), the a-eye lipstick technology will be showcased to the Asian market for the first time. It's a 360° lipstick inspection system based on neural algorithms, in the process of development by SEA Vision and ARGO Vision, and was previously presented in a preview during the Italian edition of Cosmopack in March.
Lipsticks pose various challenges when it comes to automatic inspection with artificial vision systems. SEA Vision and ARGO Vision have developed an AI-based inspection system consisting of custom cameras and lighting systems based on the semantic segmentation of lipstick areas (e.g., body, tip, neck, container, etc.). The goal is to identify every possible imperfection pixel by pixel.
The system learns to discern increasingly varied and complex defects on a case-by-case basis. Learning is based on proprietary datasets, a mix of real and synthetic images generated using advanced Data Augmentation and Neural Generation techniques, and a combination of parameters and various models observed over time. These semantic segmentation techniques based on Deep Learning, now a de facto standard in the field of Artificial Intelligence, greatly accelerate the system's object analysis capabilities. In other words, the system's ability to analyze objects evolves and becomes more precise as it examines an increasingly diverse range of scenarios.
In addition to being on display at the shared booth of Marchesini Group Beauty and SEA Vision, a-eye lipstick, as a finalist for the Cosmopack Award, will be showcased in the two celebratory zones of the Cosmopack Award. The award ceremony for the winners is scheduled for November 15th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Cosmo Onstage Hall 5G.
